Shaun Gabbidon

Shaun L. Gabbidon, PhD, is Distinguished Professor of Criminal Justice at Penn State Harrisburg. Professor Gabbidon has served as a fellow at Harvard University’s W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African American Research and has taught at the Center for Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and 13 books, including Criminological Perspectives on Race and Crime (4th ed., 2020, Routledge), and the coauthored works, A Theory of African American Offending (2011, Routledge) and Shopping While Black: Consumer Racial Profiling in America (2020). Professor Gabbidon is a Fellow of both the American Society of Criminology (ASC) and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS). In 2024, he was the recipient of the Faculty Scholar Medal for the Social Sciences, which is the highest award for scholarship at Penn State University. Dr. Gabbidon can be contacted at
